Why We Created Aze
We’ve always had a deep appreciation for sunglasses.
Tiffany L., having worked in the luxury industry, has curated a personal collection of over 200 pairs—ranging from bold statement designs to refined minimalist frames. Woody, a CEO in the high-tech sector, values a sleek and understated aesthetic that complements his professional image. Beyond just vision protection, we believe sunglasses should seamlessly enhance both personal style and social presence—effortlessly balancing function and expression.
But as much as we love sunglasses, we could never find the perfect prescription pair.
We assumed there would be plenty of options, but the reality was frustrating. The stylish frames we loved? Not available with prescription lenses. The high-end brands that did offer them? Too bulky, too heavy, or too bold for daily wear. And then there was the dreaded “sunglasses twin” effect—everywhere we looked, the same few designs kept showing up, making it far too easy to walk into a meeting or a coffee shop and spot someone else wearing the exact same pair.
We kept asking ourselves: Why isn’t anyone making prescription sunglasses for people like us?
We didn’t want to settle. Prescription sunglasses shouldn’t just be an afterthought—they should be designed for the people who actually wear them every day.
That meant frames that seamlessly fit into daily life—not just for driving or vacations, but for work, commuting, and everything in between. It meant a design approach that’s both refined and understated, so we never have to choose between style and function. And, most importantly, it meant creating eyewear that feels as natural and effortless as it looks.
If you wear prescription sunglasses, you know they’re not something you take on and off all day—they stay with you. They need to feel comfortable enough to wear from morning to night, without pinching, slipping, or weighing you down. We wanted something we could put on and forget about, because the best eyewear is the kind you don’t even notice you’re wearing.
We believe that clear vision and effortless style shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. Prescription sunglasses should feel like an extension of who we are—helping us move through the world with clarity, confidence, and ease.
That’s why we created Aze. Because we were tired of compromising. If you’ve ever struggled to find prescription sunglasses that actually fit your life, we think you’ll feel right at home here.
